LIBRARY POLICIES
General Information
Library Media Program Objectives:
To provide all students with a variety of information sources
To help students become effective information seekers
To encourage all students to become lifelong learners and readers
To nurture a love of reading in all students
Hours and Policies:
8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. when school is in session (Library closes at dismissal on half days.)
Open to students, staff and community for research and recreational reading
Collection of 17,000+ books, 2 newspapers and 30 magazines
Computer users must be registered on the S.C.S. network
Students and their parents must sign an Acceptable Use Policy, which outlines permitted usage of our computer network
Periodical and encyclopedia databases are available to Stamford Central School through a New York State Library initiative, NOVEL (New York Online Virtual Electronic Library). Many of these sites are password protected.

1000 Books Program
Reading program for young readers (Pre-K - 4rth grade), funded by the Greater Broome Community Foundation (Joyce and David Barber Donor Advised Fund)
Students must be registered to participate
Provides 1000 books in 100 different book bags, selected especially for young readers and pre-readers
